Buying an OLL out of state, got a quick question.

I'm buying a complete OLL out of state, I told the guy that I'm in California and he said he'd be willing to work with me to ship it here. He told me to send him a Bullet Button, and I was okay with that. But I had another idea.

This OLL has a full A2 stock, so I was wondering. Couldn't he just remove the pistol grip and ship the lower to my FFL? Wouldn't that be legal? It would be much easier for the both of us. Then when it gets here I can purchase the Bullet Button and install it myself, then get a pistol grip.

    Thanks,

Yes. As long as the dreaded evil features are not on that thing, you don't need it to be shipped with a BB.

Alright. Well the lower doesn't seem to have any evil features. It has a full stock (not retractable/telescoping/folding), and it's just a lower, no upper yet. When I get the BB then I'll worry about the bayonet lug and pistol grip. So I guess it's okay.

The pistol grip is evil, so have him remove it before shipping

I had a lot of trouble with the same situation in San Diego. Unless it was bullet buttoned or stripped, they wouldn't take it. The last thing you want is for the FFL to receive it and send it back. I'd recommend just getting it bullet buttoned to be on the safe side, otherwise, speak to your local dealers to see what they are willing to take.

Thats the most important part right there. Technically, a completed lower with no upper is not a "semi-automatic centerfire rifle" so it doesnt need a BB at that point, but its gonna be up to the receiving FFL as to how they want it configured for transfer.

Also, a bayonet lug is now a non-issue. Rear-view mirror, bro.
