    Correct picatinny rail for R700?

I recently purchased a Remington 700 24" in .308 and need a scope mount. I noticed that Nightforce makes a 40 MOA mount, and EGW makes a 0 MOA, 15 MOA, and 20 MOA mount. How do I determine which is the correct mount? I researched the Minute of Arc calculators but I'm new at long range shooting and don't understand it all. I researched the forum but found no related posts. Please help!

20 MOA is what most people use. I went with the EGW HD 20 moa.

It really depends on the exact scope you're using and the distance you're planning to shoot at. Some riflescopes allow for more adjustment for you to get out farther and negate the need to use the bases with more MOA.

Also note that if you're planning on getting a base with a large amount of MOA you may run into adjustment issues if you're trying to zero at 100 yards (also due to the lack of enough elevation travel in the opposite direction).

Speaking from personal experience a 0 MOA is perfect for anything under 300.

So exact riflescope or the amount of elevation of said riflescope and desired shooting distance would help greatly.

20 MOA is what you want with your setup. It will allow you to get to 1000yds with almost all scopes and still be able to get a 100yd zero. Go with EGW, their prices are better.

Leupold Mark 4 have 100MOA of adjustment just as an example. What scope did you buy and how far do you want to shoot, realistically? As an example .308 @ 1k will drop 440inches making for -42MOA. Take the advertised MOA adjustment of your scope and figure which you need.

Bought a 4-16X56 Scope and I'm looking to do some long range shooting under 500 yards. Regular shooting will be 100-200 yards with the occasional 400-500 yard shots. Never been big into long distance and I'm starting off simple.
