So i was cleaning my SKS

And peeked down the bore and its SHINY SHINY. Does that mean its a chrome lined barrel or just shiny cause it wasn't shot to crap? I didn't think Yugo SKS were chrome lined. If it is how do I figure out if its chrome lined?

good job cleaning your weapon. The Zastava's are not chrome lined.

What's the country of origin of your SKS? The former Yugoslav republic had a shortage of zirconium and did not chrome their barrels as did pretty much every other country that manufactured them. They also did not want to import it from Mother Russia, as others such as Albania had. It was all politics.

Anyways, if it's not Yugoslav, most likely it's chromed.

as long as it hits your target, chrome lined or not - just take care of it well.

i have never gotten clean patches out of mine after the brushing. i used to clean the snot out of it thinking it would make a difference but now its just a few scrubs and a couple patches and wipe down the rest and fugetaboutit.

I take the rifle off the wood stock break it down and throw it in a trough I built filled with laquer thinner. then I pull it out and clean it. I only use the trough when i take a bunch of guns to the range. Otherwise its usually take off the stock and blast it with brake cleaner then clean and re oil everything

Yugo SKS' are not chrome lined but a couple of mine look like it also. All rifle bores look that way when new and if they are well taken care of they will stay that way.
However I also have a Yugo 59 that has a sewer pipe for a barrel. But it still shoots well and is one of my favorite SKS'.
