    Electronic hearing protection?

    Hey CG,

Got recommendations on good performance vs price for electronic hearing protection?

I know the Peltor CommTac line is great, but pricey

Any good recommendations on others to look into?

I use Howard Leight Impact Sports. They're low-profile and won't break the bank. I use them over a pair of in-the-ear foam plugs.

What is your budget? I use the MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X Ear Muff and I'm very happy with mine (pic is in my AR profile).

I've got Howard Leight's as well and am very happy with them.

i use a pair of peltor tactical 6-s, sometimes doubled up with regular ear plugs. they work great and are very affordable (~$60 iirc).

Yep, thats what I use too. Converted a friend who used to use peltors. You can get them for 48 bucks right now from amazon.

I use them over a pair of surefire earpro's. Turn up the volume on the howard leights and I can almost carry a normal conversation while blocking out a very good amount of sound.

I've tried the sordins and they are very good. But I can get a few howard leights for the same price and I'm just as happy.

From what I hear (no pun intended), they are worth every penny.

For now, I like foam plugs because I don't get a headache.

I have both the Howard Leights and the Sordin Xs. Honestly you can't tell much of a difference (but you can in your wallet).

The Sordin's are better quality for sure (waterproof, last longer, bla bla), but you can treat the HLs almost like disposables with the price difference.

After years of shooting, almost all of my friends and I use MSA Sordins now. It seems kind of silly to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on guns and ammo, but cheap out on good ears that you will use every single time you shoot. My Sordins are the best $200 I've spent on anything related to shooting, includng guns. They are so good I am going to buy a second pair for guests to use.

The Peltor Tactical 6S are perfect and they are not as expensive as the comtac. I am selling the Peltor tactical 6S for $65. I have a thread up in the commercial sales and goods section.
                              Thanks
