I have a Lancaster Russian Red AK-47 that shoots extremely well, and I am very happy with it. After viewing all the problems people of having with Lancasters AK-74 Rough Riders, I think Im getting paranoid. I was at the range and noticed that the wood below the gas tube wasn't exactly as flush as it was on the other side. Is this common for Ak-47's?

No worries my friend. I have 3 Lancasters and a couple of others. That is very common as 69Mach1 stated.Comment

Im so glad to have read this thread... I too just bought a Russian Red AK-47 Lancaster and was also paranoid after hearing lots of horror stories with their AK-74s.
The real test is of course when I actually get the time to go shoot it!
BTW: the only problem I see with my Lancaster is the tight fit of the carrier and bolt back onto the receiver when assembling/disassembling.
Anyone else has a tight fitting carrier? Looks like the receiver needs to be dremelled a little to allow the carrier to go in freely instead of the tight snag.Comment

If you start removing material, your gonna start a thread asking why the bolt carrier is jumping the rails in your new Lancaster after only 200 rounds. There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

The issues were pretty much isolated to the AK74 RR series shipped out from Dec 09 - Jan 10/.Comment
