    My First Sniper/Precision Rifle Build

After doing some research and initially deciding to buy the Remington 700 LTR, I ended up ordering up a 700 SRS Varmint rifle for my first precision rifle. I have read through everyone's posts about all of the things this gun needs (new stock especially), so the first thing that I am ordering is this:

    with these:

I basically have no idea what I am doing, other than I am interested in learning how to shoot long range. Is this a decent set-up for this?
Everyone was so helpful with my AR build, I hope it goes the same with this.

    what caliber you go with?
just checking because .223 and .308 are short actions and that base wont work.

I have SPS Varmint in 223 and 300 WSM. 223 has a Nikon Monarch scope on it and shoots well. I did the trigger job and glass bedding. 300 WSM is new and haven't fired yet.

Looks good, do check to see if you have a short or long action to see if that's the right base for you.

I am getting the .308, so I guess that is the short action.

              So this one?

              or this one

              ?

              Lots to learn.

The Super Sniper does have parallax adjustment, just not in the usual place. The PA adjustment is where the variable power ring would be, near the ocular lens.

I just ordered a Remngton 700 SS 5R rifle directly from the factory. And, at a VIP price. Cannot wait to get it. I have another one, and it shoots great.

I just noticed the rings that you had showing are mediums. I think your scope is going to sit a bit high with those. Lows might work better.
