Uppers? I need help! Too many different opinions

I looking for an upper with front and back flip up sights. I want it to have the ability to handel the 5.56 not just thee .223. I say this because I was told the .223 has less pressure than the 5.56. (i know they are the same caliber this is just what I have heard)
Can someone get me some facts for i am to lazy to researched myself.

    Thank you!

There are literally dozens to choose from. Pretty much every vendor/mfgr has one or more to offer. Myself, I went with a Stag Arms Model 8. It's a piston AR, Midwest Industries front and rear flip up sights.

You can also just buy a flat top AR and add your own sights...its limitless...do a little searching and find a setup you like.

            Where should we begin

First and foremost, what do you want to do with the Rifle? Home Defense? Plinking at the Range? Hunting, Mall Ninja?

Next, 5.56 and 223 are essentially the same, except the neck of the 5.56 is slightly thicker, and only a Upper Chambered in Both or 223 Wylde will accept both safely.

After that, telling people your too lazy would get much help, i.e. its almost 1 am, and only 4 people have responded to you.

The last thing, whats your budget.

Wow. Super lazy, some one is

But it really depends on your budget and what you plan on doing with it. If you can swing it, a Colt, Noveske, Daniel Defense, LMT, BCM, Sabre Defense; or a CMMG upper should be ok.

16" or 20" are the most common barrel lengths. And then theres a carbine, mid length or rifle length gas system. Most people go with a flat top so they can mount whatever sight or optic they want. The possibilities are endless. You just need to sit down, do some research, and see what you like/want.

Here are the keywords to look for in an all-around hard use carbine:

Barrel: cold hammer forged, chrome lined, 16" with mid-length gas system, 4150 steel, HPT/MPI
Bolt: HPT/MPI, shot peened, staked well

Good choices: BCM BFH, DD, Riflegear, Noveske RECCE

If you want more velocity (and/or accuracy at distance), consider an 18-20" SS barrel with rifle gas

Good choices: BCM SS410, Denny's guns, WOA, Sabre

Budget $600-$800. As for what I want to do with it plink, hunt and hold down the fort.

Plinking and hunting? Hmm.. maybe a 20" barrel would work. Get a $435 BCM 20" upper, add the $145 BCM bolt carrier group and charging handle option, and some $20 handguards. As for sights, if you plan on putting some kind of optic, you'll probably need a low pro, flip up, rear sight. TROY, Knights Armament, A.R.M.S., Midwest Industries, Yankee Hill Machine, and Magpul, all have some nice back up iron sights.
