    Bolt Catch Problem (ar15)

Anyways, I have put about 2k rounds through my rifle without a problem. The bolt catch all of a sudden will not hold the bolt open on an empty mag. I checked out the top of the bolt catch and there is no sign of wear at all. I assume that the bolt catch grabs the bolt on the front face of the locking lugs but they look good as well. WTF. Any help appreciated.

Is your bolt catch sticking or gritty when you take the upper off?

Smooth as silk, no binding or other bad stuff going on. Just wont lock in the open position with either empty mag or even while holding the the bolt catch in the lock position while slowly releasing the charging handle to catch it.

The only thing that comes to my limited mind for AR troubleshooting, is that perhaps something is keeping your bolt from moving back far enough to be caught.

        What that could be though....

Have you tried a few different mags?

+1. I agree. Try an other mag if you got one.

I'm having this problem too. I can solve it temporarily by opening it up and wiggling it back and fourth. What kind of LPK are you using ?
