    Sighting-In Question for you pro's.....

Need some help sighting-in a new rifle with a powerful scope at 100 & 200 yards. In the past, I have always sighted-in my 3 x 9 and 2.5 x 10 scopes on highest magnification power at 100 yards.

So I just bought a .243 with a 24 power scope...do I sight it in on 24 power at 100 yards or 10 power or what power is best?

    TIA,
    Zimm

Different magnification settings don't change your POI. Put it on the highest so you can see your bullet holes and make adjustments quicker.

Should not matter but it would be easier to get on paper with 10X and fine-tune zero with 24X.

Use the look through bore method. On paper in one shot, within a couple inches on second shot and dead center by the 3rd shot. Never fails.

I start at 30 yards and work out from there.....saves waisted ammo that is off the target. The power of the scope should not matter, If it does, you have bigger problems

Many cheap scopes have a problem where the zero wanders with magnification change.
In QUALITY scopes, different magnification settings should not change the POI.

Bore sight the scope at about 50-75yds and you will be on 100yd paper with the first shot.
