Romanian Ak 47 in 5.56 question. Yes its really a 5.56!

Wanted to see if anyone new about the Romanian AK 47 variant in a 5.56. My dad picked one up about 5 months ago and was told it was a .223. When firing .233 the gun would jam. In recently learning about the difference between a 5.56 and a .233 I asked him to look at the side of the rifle and sure enough its stamped 5.56. I know theres alot of AK lovers here so Im hoping to get some info on this rifle. I googled it and cant find much about this rifle really. Any info on it would be appreciated. Trying to figure out if .223 is ok to shoot out of it or is it a 5.56 only? I know usually if its a 5.56 it can shoot both but wondering since its on an AK platform if the .223 just isnt strong enough for it to cycle properly? ANy help would be appreciated and Thank you.

I was told in AR15's its ok to shoot .223 in a 5.56 chamber but not the other way around. I would think its the same for a 5.56 AK, maybe its a different problem, try different ammo

Its most likely a Romanian SAR 3. The .223 v 5.56 wont matter. Its probably the mag, is he using original mags? I think they came with factory 10rd mags, but .223 AK's can be finicky. So the mag is the most likely problem try getting some weiger mags and if it still jams then it can be a whole bunch of things...

Failure to eject. My dad says when he fires it the front part of the shell is out the side but the base is still in the breach. Like its not ejecting it out all the way. Also any links to educate myself on this perticular weapon would be helpfull, thanks.

In my post I tryed Google couldnt find much. Not even a wiki on this particular rifle. Anyways I like learning from those that know. The info is always better from a person who has one or knows alot about them.
