    Aimpoint H-1 problem-UPDATED on post #14

I have had this Aimpoint H-1 with a LaRue tall mount for about a year now, and have experienced this problem twice since I have owned it. The problem is, it will not turn on! The first time it happened, I was geeking around at home, turned the sight on and nothing! WTF! I thought it was a dead/faulty battery so I put in a new Energizer battery and it worked, so I thought it was a faulty battery, since a the expected battery life of a H-1 is appox 8 years...So about 6 months later, it happened again, but this time at the range. I was using the sight, everything was fine. I decided to turn the sight off and run with the irons to make sure they are still zeroed. After I verified zero with the irons, I went to turn the H-1 back on and guess what.. NOTHING! It didn't turn on AGAIN! I cycled through all the brightness settings, off,on,off,on and still nothing. I took the battery cover off, took the battery out, put the battery back in and IT WORKED!It turned on after that. When I got home, I took the battery out, cleaned the battery contacts, and applied some electrical contact enhancer called Deoxit to all the contacts. I also threw in a NEW battery and put contact enhancer on the battery too....It has been ok since, but I DONT want this to happen AGAIN!
The question I have is: Has anyone experienced this problem? Should I just send it back to Aimpoint? I dont want to be without a optic since this is my primary and only optic at the moment..

I would immediately send it back.....I dont spend money like that and tolerate sub-par performance.

Its a Grade A optic...and should have Grade A performance.

        Wrong forum.

I've heard of people complaining Eotech's fail, and that Aimpoint's are bulletproof. Guess not.

There are much less issues with Aimpoints than Eotech. Anything can fail, its a matter of how often.

I am aware of the optic, mounts , & rail forum, Thanks.

I have read a lot more about Eotech failures..I rarely/almost never read about a Aimpoint failure. Anything and everything can fail..Nothing is bulletproof. Thats a good thing to remember...

Which is why , so far there is just useless commentary in your thread. You asked if there were other people that have experienced this , and my guess is that you will be lucky to have even one person chime in with a similar problem.

Eotech on the other hand....well....theres a few threads out there...

My aimpoint has been on since Jan of the year and I check it time to time still on... send it back or call their customer service.

Perhaps this is the best advice - don't turn it off! I'd still send it back though as it is not normal.

send me a PM if you want a contact @ Aimpoint. I sent mine back right before New Years to fix, and they actually just sent me a new one.

edit: It was sent back for another problem, not the one the OP has.

Just to give you guys a update-I got a customer service contact from tomd1584...Thanks Tom. I sent them a email and they quickly responded. The tech told me to fully tighten the battery cover. I got about a 1/2 turn out of it before it fully bottomed out. He said that he has seen/heard of this problem before and it most likly was caused by not having the battery cover fully tightened down. I hope this was the fix. I will keep you guys updated if it happens again.
