It's one of those "seems cool" ideas. Now it just wears the aimpoint compm3 on the KAC forward rail.
Yeah I wasn't going to say anything ("to each his own") but the 3x mag/FTS setup on an M1A is sort of like running a dogsled race with cats: you could do it, but it probably wouldn't work, and even if it did it wouldn't work well.

If you think it will be the greatest thing since sliced bread, give it a shot.

The problem with forums is, even when the info is right, sometimes you just have to see for yourself!

        Weigh the info and decide.

I did forget about the Trijicon rail... but it's also like $400

I very much prefer an RDS or scout scope.

I tried this same route you guys are trying to or have done before and gave up. Also tried to put a 3x9 scope using standard SAI or Sadlak rails and I couldn't stand the height of the scope and just didn't want to deal with cheek risers. The small clip guide rail interests me but the scope will still ride high. So far I ended up placing a Burris Scout scope on my M1A scout's front rails and happy with it. Sometimes I stick to the irons but my rigth eye sucks now so a scope is almost a must for me. Just try the scout scope set up and you might like it. I don't love it but I like it and it works for me. Leupold and Burris are the only ones that make the scout scopes. I prefer the Burris.

i think im gonna end up just trying a aimpoint 2MOA scope on it for starters. my problem is i dont have the money to try stuff! haha
i know this is vain, but i just dont like the "look" of scout scopes. it has nothing to do with function.... i dont know... i guess i just need to keep looking at them to make myself like them!
i know what im gonna do, im gonna start a thread for everyone to post there M1A builds so i can get a bunch of good ideas thanks for your help guys!

It already exists, it's called the M14 & M1A Picture Thread.
