Buy a new buffer spring, they are very cheap I got mine from midway usa for $3.99, could always buy some ammo from them while you are at it
.
But I being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softely, because you tread on my dreams. -
Pull the spring out of the stock and check the free length.
A new carbine spring should be 11.25" long.Randall Rausch

If you retract the charging handle and release it, it's common to have the bolt fail to go into battery, especially if the upper is not lubed properly.
Pull the charging handle back, engage the bolt catch, return the charging handle forward, insert the loaded magazine and depress the bolt catch to let the bolt carrier move forward.Randall Rausch

A full magazine will also cause a problem.
Download one round to give the other rounds in the mag room to move down while the top round comes "around the corner" into the chamber.Randall Rausch
