SKS brass ejecting???

I noticed that after each round the brass flyingout straight up, consistently ( one shot straight up and stuck to the plywood ceiling of the outdoor range) instead of flying to the side and toward rear. Is this normal guys? Keep in mind that I just got this sks recently, not sure if the previous owner did anything to the extractor spring. Thanks

did you try this with any diffrent ammo? did you get the same results?

Brass out of my SKS flies straight up also. I have a Russian SKS and my buddies Russian does the same thing. I see this with all ammo I buy.

NO!! it's not normal for your SKS to "Consistently" eject brass in the same area.


Brass from an SKS flys all over the place! usually to the right/front hi in the air... about the 1 to 2 o'clock position, but a lot of times it flies strait up like you mention.

Any way you look at it... brass goes everywhere in an SKS and in a violent way. It's part of what makes them so reliable... so, it's normal.

I'd only worry if they start going to the left... near your head

I was at burrow canyon last Sunday( 9/25/05), And I shot with with wolf, the other was Brown Tiger or Bear and results are the same. I let my friend shoot it So I can take a look and consistently round after round flying straight up

Perfectly normal. Mine almost put a case into Sputnik orbit.
