My new Sig 556 Patrol Swat...opinions?

So I ordered a Sig 556 Classic Swat a while back and just picked it up this morning. Turns out the guy sent a Patrol Swat with the words "One in Two Thousand" printed on the side. An honest mistake due to poor communication on both of our parts. It's a pretty amazing looking weapon, but I was looking forward to the longer hand guard that the Classic offers. So here's the deal:

If I keep the Patrol, I get the 300$ MIR and the total price is 1400$. If I send it back for a Classic SWAT, I end up paying for FFL and shipping again, pushing it up to around 1800$ and I won't qualify for the MIR since the purchase date is past.

I'm worried about mounting a bipod so far back and not being able to fit a good angled foregrip or even a normal one. Also, I have a long reach since I'm 6'2" and sort of worried about holding it so far back.

So, I'd love your opinions. Should I eat 400$ and go for the Classic instead of the Patrol? Thanks for reading!

Keep it, Save your money and get the other 1 later. Or get the other handguards and you can swap back and forth depending what mood you are in that day!

Sadly, the gas piston is also shorter so switching out to the longer hand guard is impossible

But thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll be purchasing another one, though. My next will be a Saiga 12 w/ pistol grip.

If you're not planning on buying another one ever again, I'd personally eat the $400 and get the one i want.

Well what I'd actually do is order the Classic Swat... wait a month until the promotion is over and sell the Patrol Swat for maybe $200 under retail. Then I'd only lose like $200.

          That will work also.

That's a good idea! I'll play around with the Patrol tonight and see if I can get over it. I already have a bipod so I'll test it out but definitely not fire it.

            Thanks!

I just got my patrol. Its an awesome rifle. I have an extended flash hider on it keeping the stock fully fold able. Nice balance and feels lighter than the SWAT. I almost had your problem with getting the wrong rifle and at the last second I asked again about the model and we cleared up the misunderstanding. Sorry to hear that happened to you.
Personally I find the 1 of 2000 to be kind of lame. Sounds like you still ended up with a good deal.

So you mean that you got the standard Patrol and not the Patrol SWAT, right? Also, aren't flash hiders illegal in CA? And do you have a bipod on your Patrol? I'm afraid to clamp one on the barrel directly.

I'm thinking of taking HK Dave's advice and selling it for 1600$ or so in a few weeks. I don't think I'd mind the weight of the Classic Swat. I

Its the swat patrol with the short rail. I guess its a long muzzel brake.

You can have a flash hider if its a fixed magazine rifle.

You got a smoking deal on one of the limited edition SWAT patrol rifles, I would keep it. Well, actually you got 1/2 of the limited edition deal. The "One in Two Thousand" was actually sold as a pair or rifles that also includes a limited edition Sig 522 SWAT. We bought a couple of these pairs and split them up, I ended up with one of the 522 SWATs in my personal collection.

So one last question if you guys don't mind...do you know if the Patrol Swat has a removable muzzle break? It doesn't look quite the same as the one on the Classic Swat and I'd love to change it out for a flash hider.

Thanks for all the advice, by the way. I'm definitely considering keeping this rifle. I played with it a bit last night and it's bad ***.
