Several people use it. I'd like to get one and try it out.

Honestly, I've always felt like these were major gray area. Tools are often thought of as "hand held." This isn't held. It's essentially an extension of your finger, just narrower. Motion and time to release a magazine is virtually the same as a standard mag release and your finger. I know some use them. I just think it wouldn't be a simple case to defend in court should you come up against an aggressive DA. Toss in those typically seated on a jury and all bets are off. YMMV.

I would be scared. I used to go out into the desert shooting with my dad. The guys in green uniforms, I think they were rangers??? would come up and want to inspect our weapons. They really seemed to want to make sure about the magazines and that they couldn't easily be ejected. I think I would just use a good bullet button, as I think the cops are just looking for reasons to take weapons away. We had bullet button wonder tools that we left on over the bullet buttons at other times, incase they were needed for protection and we had to screw the law!! Otherwise, we always tried not to push it too far.

There's no gray here. Just because you can attach it to your hand doesn't make it not a tool.

A good DA and a leadable jury = potential for conviction. If the defense isn't Gura/Michels/Davis, you could have real problems as your defense argument revolves around what defines a tool when there's no definition in the PC.

When the first entry a Mirriam Webster defines tool as "a handheld device", you're already pushing up hill.
                  Not at all.

Can you do the task without it? No.

Can you do it with it? Yes.

                  Then it's a tool.

Whatever. I was stating my own "issues" with the concept. If you feel comfortable running with that "tool", by all means. It's not my butt on the line.

Don't feel bad for taking the contrary position. Things got harsher than they should.
