Cant seem to locate a rear sight base though...I suppose those end up getting chucked with the receiver since they are welded to it.

Has anyone built one of these..?? Or is it best to just get one of these...??

The barrel would be US made.....and the receiver I assume...but thats it.

Good question...I always forget about that damn 922r.

No wonder the complete rifle is so pricey....

Rear sight base is already welded onto the PTR receiver; you can see it straight above the rearest edge of the bottom cutout.

Don't forget you need to keep it within 922.r compliance, you need to find a semi-auto trigger pack to keep it within NFA compliance, and you need to maglock or featureless it to keep within SB23 compliance.

Also, HKs are a tough thing to do. It requires a GOOD welder, a press, potentially machines (mill and sometimes a lathe), etc. It's not just a piece together type thing like an AK or AR. Yes, it can be done, but it's NOT a cake walk.

K....found a radlock for it...but it seems weird. Would probably prefer the kydex wrap thingy and change the hider to a comp or brake.

Trying to find out what the paratrooper's OAL while collapsed though....searchin.

edit: appears it is 31 1/2 inches collapsed. Good to go.

                Yup...your right.

This is why I post this stuff....its how I work out my decisions. I sometimes forget the little details. The Kydex wrap and a brake would work great with the standard model though....still need to learn a bit more bout these rifles. Theyre not too cheap.

If you are looking for a HK clone, get the PTR; can't beat the quality, price is very reasonable, and there are alot of surplus G3 parts on the market. It's easy to pickup a G3 collapsible stock for around $150; they install with just a couple of push pins. If you're looking to get out cheap, there's a new batch of CETME's on the market. Be aware that HK clones are very hard on your brass.

i am also curious about this. i thought it was the fluted chamber that shortened the life of the brass, but really IDK.

The ejection is so positive on HK 9X series rifles (good thing IMO), it dings your brass against the ejection port of the receiver. There is a clip on port buffer that greatly reduces this. I run mine w/o a buffer & reload w/o issues. Some say the brass is junk afterward, but the brass from my PTR's are reloadable. Get a PTR, you'll love it.
