    SAiga .308 owners come out

I'm want one. I love the short carbine. Are these as good as some claim they are?

How can we answer that? What's the claim?

I sold mine, as I didn't shoot it much compared to my other .308s. I figured, if I was spending two quarters per shot I'd stick with a rifle "worthy" of the round.

However, that's not a negative on the rifle. It was very reliable and plenty accurate, though I never scope it. It had no issue pinging plates at 400yds with irons - which was the best I could do with the crap AK sights.

I bought my 16" Saiga 308 back when they were dirt cheap and nobody wanted them; paid $239. I wish I had picked up a couple more. Mine is scoped and will shoot into 1.5" with some old milsurp ball despite the long heavy trigger provided I do my part. It's also as reliable as any Kalashnikov which is expected. All it really needs is a muzzle brake as the recoil, although not harsh can be unpleasant after an extended shooting session.

Recoil and flash is more than anticipated on the 16" barrel. I sold mine and used the fund on a VZ.58.

Personally, I felt that the saiga 308 could have done better to utilize the potential of the 308 round.

I can regularly hit a man-sized target at 450 and 600 yards with my 21" Saiga .308 and some Wolf Ammo. No joke. I had multiple calgunner witnesses.

Don't know if the 16" .308 would be as good for distance though...

I love my 16" 308, I usually only shoot under 200yards and its accurate at those ranges for me! I have an ak74 style muzzlebrake and the recoil is same as my AK x39. I personally think its one of my favoritesbut I guess it all depends on how its setup!

I have fun shooting my stock 16". Recoil isn't as bad as I thought for being such a short carbine in that caliber. Very accurate IMO for any AK based rifle.

How did you attach your muzzle brake?

They are great, I have loved mine. With some things going on, I have to end up selling it now. Pretty bummed. Have a look.

Yeah I'm happy with my 18'' Saiga .308 especially after converting it. No problem out to 300yds at SBR&Club San Diego, can't wait to see how she does pass that...any recommendations where to go within S.D. Thanks

SIG0316, nice build. I have the TWS rail also and it makes scoping the Saiga so simple and solid.

I got the x39 and am thinking about getting the x51 if I can find a 20" barrel on one.

                            GREAT BALLS O FIRE!
Guess you forgot to mention the FIREBALL out of the 16" barrel. Especially with the Commie Bear .308 Ammo.
I also like the silent range effect after you let off a few with this bad boy!

                            This thing rocks!
