    Need recommendation

Please, recommend a semi automatic rifle with a detachable magazine to be used for long range and SHTF.

Long range? Barrett makes a couple nice rifles in .416, but you're probably thinking of some small poodle-shooter like a .338 Lapua.

You might look for an AR-10 in .308

Then M1A or Saiga .308. Or a fully neutered, once was pistol grip rifle with no grip or flash hider like a AR, FAL, HK clone, etc...

How is M1A maintainance wise? Is it as easy as Saiga? How do they compare accuracy wise? I'd assume M1A is a better sniper rifle?

M1A will make the Saiga look like a Nerf gun at long range.....No comparison.
Maintenance wise it is fairly easy....if you can build an AR- you can disassemble and reassemble an M1A....

Just use the right grease (not oil), good mags, and great ammo- you are set.
