Need help identifying 7.62x51 head stamp.

I've come across a can of 5.62x51 ammo but I can't figure out where it was manufactured. I think it's German. The headstamp is DAG 1065. Anyone know who manufactured this ammo? Is it safe surplus (unlike that from India)?

Definitely NOT Indian. DAG is German. DAG=Dynamit Nobel A-G, Troisdorf, Germany. Don't know about the 1065. It could possibly be mfg date of October, 1965. Here's a link to some headstamp info (courtesy of the FAL Files Ammo Forum):

I have no personal experience with this ammo, but it's probably ok if it was stored properly and they're not reloads.

Great reference site MaxQ Thanks (I've added it to my favorites list). I agree that the 1065 is most likely the mfg date. Ammo looks to be in good shape and not reloaded as it still has the factory primer crimp. Again, thanks for the link.
