    JD machine 308 lowers

I just picked up a JD machine 308 lower. It uses a set screw to capture the rear take down pin spring. I've tried emailing JD but haven't received a response yet. I'm unable to call during their normal hours because of work. Would anyone happen to know what size that set screw is? A 4-40? I don't want to risk striping the receivers threads testing screws.
    Thanks for the help.

It's not a normal set screw - it's only threaded on one end. If you buy a DPMS .308 lower parts kit you will get one with the kit.

EDIT: My bad, thought you were describing the screw for the bolt catch.

There should be a set screw already installed in the lower, it comes as part of the purchase. At least it does here at Golden State Tactical. Where did you purchase it from??

JD just finished up with the Del Mar gun show and all it's paperwork, I'm sure they'll get back to you soon. If it didn't come with one, call them today and (or wait to hear back) and ask them to provide one. They're very good about that type of thing.
