I'm looking to buy a new rifle chambered in 308 and was wondering which gun is more accurate straight out of the box, the Savage Arms model 10fcp-k with the new accustock or a similar remington model 700

Both are good rifles out of the box, I have a 700p and at the last match at desert marksmen in palmdale I noticed a guy was shooting a savage and he was getting shots in the 10 ring shooting black hills ammo so that is good enough for me. Needless to say he shot a higher score than me, was it the rifle, ammo or shooter? probably the ammo and shooter! But I have to give him props for his skills and his stock savage 10 -
Price and accuracy are only two of the factors to consider when choosing a gun.
Upgradability is equally important.
The 700 platform has FAR more accessories and parts available for it.
I saw at least two threads this week by savage owners that were trying to figure out how to fit 700 parts on their guns because those same parts are not made for the savage action.Randall Rausch
