    18" or 20" Upper options

Im looking into a new upper, maybe 18" or 20". Right now I have the larue uppers in mind with 13.2 rail lengths. On the larue site it mentions that the
20" should be used with a rifle buffer system, but Im planning on using a ubr stock, any problems with that? Also ionbond or stainless?

Im also looking at a noveske 18", which cost a little more but comes with a free lower. I really dont need a new lower right now though, and I prefer a longer rail system. The vis has a 12" rail, but Im not really into the vis.

    any other options there?

by the way I have a weaver classic extreme 1.5-4 that Im planning on trading for a stronger scope if anyones interested.

oh ya, off subject (didn't want to make another post), what other companies make a 14.5 upper with a pinned fh besides bcm, cmmg, or bushmaster?

i ordered the 18 inch with 13.2 hand guard, i recommend you order over the phone because when i called they asked if i was going to use a rifle length buffer tube or a carbine buffer tube. i was using a rifle length but if you ask they will send you an upper optimized for the carbine length. i think it just has to do with the extractor spring because when i received mine it had a little baggie that said extractor spring for carbine length buffer as an extra. gun is great recommend larue they are very nice people. if you do go larue as an extra they give you some cooking spices too (mmmmm tacti-cool cooking spices) which i found quite funny.

          thanks.

right now Im wondering if I should go

          Noveske 18" stainless with the switchblock 1/7 twist w/ 11inch hgs(for about 1300 with the free lower..seems like a better deal) vs Larue 18"w/13.2 hg(for 1215 shipped)?

any one have advice between the two?

            Tough choice.....I like both.
I'd lean towards the Noveske just because (I've read) longer barrels is better off with 1/7 twist.
To the best of my knowledge, LaRue 18' is 1/9 twist (correct me if I'm wrong).

              Larue is 1/8 twist.

If I were to get an 18" it would have to be a SPR MK12 Mod 0. ADCO makes great SPR upper from what I read. http://www.adcofirearms.com/acc/Prod...Rifle%20Uppers

                  Larue is 1/8 twist
I just got home and checked in the safe.....yes, 1/8 twist....thx for keeping me honest.

That said, I'd go with the LaRue 18" with the 13.2" handguard.
I've seen it with a UBR stock so I'm guessing it's good to go.

Just build your own upper with a White Oak Armament barrel of your choice & get a Daniel Defense 14" Lite Rail. That would be a stout combo. My 2nd choice would be the Noveske.
