AR night tonight at ASC

Well, I am skipping out of work a bit early to head to the range. Hopefully I will see some of you guys there. American Shooting Center in Kearny Mesa, 5-7pm. I'll be the one with a light blue shirt and a bunch of ARs.

What is the range rate? And do you know how crowded it gets in there. I've only been to ASC once and it's been a while.

I don't remember the rate. I think it is between $15-18. Slick, who works there, suggested Monday and Tuesday nights because they were the slowest.

Well there was a total of 3 of us. Not a huge turn out, but definately fun. Thanx to the guys that did show. I got to see some really cool toys, and even played with a few of them. We will have to do that again some time in the not-too-distant future.

lol. I had 2 separate threads over the past week saying when it was. I guess we will just have to schedule another one soon. The place was pretty quiet and there was plenty of room. There were several flavors of ARs there, as well as some other very nice handguns. It was neat to see what other people had put together. I'll bring the AR pistol again next time, but I don't think I need to schlep 3 rifles again. We didn't get through them all. And even if you don't have an AR, feel free to bring whatever else amuses you.

I would have went too. I was actually at Mesa College all day and could have stopped by after work in my way home. I guess I don't venture out of the WTS section all that much to see other posts of interest.

That AR pistol is nasty, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.

I would never want to be near that thing without adequate hearing protection! Nor would I want to be anywhere near the massive ball of flame leaving the barrel, lol.


On another unrelated note, I really want a Les Baer now. I REALLY want one.

I vote that we do this again.

Had a good time today. It was nice to meet gun_toting_monkeyboy and slipangle. I should've brought the Draco, but I wasn't sure if ASC had non-magnetic ammo - which they did (though they usually don't).

Glad you guys enjoyed my Baer. I love that gun.

See, there are actually reasonable uses for an AR pistol here in socal. I'm not planning on running afoul of any 14 foot tall kodiak bears, lol!

You really shouldn't let me touch 1911's as nice as your Les Baer. One might end up following me home.

Yeah, the trigger on that Les Baer was dangerous. At least to my pocketbook. I hope I didn't drool on it and slipangle's HK too much. As for the P2K range some time, I'll see what I can do. But it is over 80 miles from my house, so I don't know if Mrs. Monkeyboy would let me get away with that on a Saturday. ASC is only a few blocks from work, and on the way home for me.

Do they have ammo available there for an AR ? I have recently moved to North County and all my ammo an most of my stuff is in storage up north. I have a build I just finished and no mag or ammo. So I didn't go. maybe next time.

They have ammo, but your local walmarts are going to be cheaper. And they normally have Remington .223 FMJ in stock for $9.99/20 rounds. As for a mag, there are several places that advertize on here that will ship you a 10/30 mag for a reasonable price. ASC normally has 10 round mags in stock, but I would call ahead to make sure. Or you could just ask if anybody can lend you a spare mag to use while you are there the next time we set one of these up. Assuming that you haven't gotten one by then.

Oh, just as a side note, ASC did have 7.62x39 ammo for sale. It was in the mid-teens per box of 20, but it was definately ok to use at their range.
