    AR-15 Sight Help

So about a year ago my brother bought me a S&W MP15OR. I finally a few weeks ago had him send it here and after my 10 day wait I have it in my possession. So last year when I was visiting SLC we went to Get Some to find some sights. They had a nice flip up front sight from GG&G so I bought it. I wanted the standard style rear sight that has elevation and windage adjustments. At the time they were all out of that style, but the guy who was helping said he had one at home and he brought it in and I met him the next day. Here is where I made the mistake. My brother and I didn't take the rifle in to make sure the sights worked together. I should have known better as just a few weeks before this my bro bought sights from them for his MP15OR and they sold him a set where the front sight was too short. Tonight I mounted the sights up and low and behold the front sight is about a 1/4" too tall. Obviously I have not fired the weapon, but just eyeballing it I can see it will shoot low. Way too low. So now I am trying to find a rear sight that is the style I want that will have the correct height and would rather not order or buy one only to find it wont work for me. Any ideas on where I should start for a good rear sight. Or should I try and sell both and start over. What a PITA. Here are pics of the two sights if that helps at all.

sounds like your front sight is 'gas block 'mount,as opposed to a rail mount.
The difference is .300" . And from the pics in the plastic bag .......

The problem is with the front sight if you are mounting it on the forearm rail.

Ahhh so mine does say gas block mount. And what I need is a front rail mount? Is this one from GG&G something that would work. It says its for tactical forearms. It says it can be mounted on gas blocks that are the same height as the upper receiver. Which the front and rear rail are the same height on my AR.

GG&G is an established manufacturer of tactical rifle accessories. We specialize in AR-15, M16, and Remington Shotgun parts for military, police, and sporting applications.

Do you have a picture of the rifle so we can see what kind of rail set up you are working with. I do have sights available for AR-15 on my web sight for about $28 depending on the style you need.
