Didn't have much time earlier so I'll add to this now.
I think the fact that the gun went from room temperature out to the cold played a factor here.
At first the snow didn't really collect on the gun. It would melt when it hit it and pool up on top of it. After a few minutes it would collect in a few places, then once the gun was cold enough the snow would collect without melting.
When the snow melted on it and I was getting that "oily effect" I mentioned...it seemed like the pooling water was drawing the lube out through the pin holes, or from between the upper and lower.
So when I picked it up this morning I just shook it off a little bit. There was some ice on the gun its self, probably from the melting snow yesterday.
I flipped the safety off and it went fine. Not frozen. I fired as normal from the shoulder, Boom...first round went fine. I pulled the trigger again and got a click...
I push/pulled the mag and racked the CH. (ejected round did not have the typical primer strike on it from cycling) I think the bolt didn't close properly, had I noticed I may have been able to correct it with the forward assist.
Since I got a click I had no choice but to eject the round. When I pulled the CH it was a bit stiffer than normal.
The rest (18) when off without issue.
Now that the rifle is dry (I just brought it in, no wipe down) it seems to be lacking lubrication. The charging handle is tougher to use, its real stiff. The bolt is not "gliding" as smooth as usual. There is a chalky build up on some parts of the gun (exterior).
Lube used was CLP.
Ammo used was S&B 55gr. FMJ.
No harm done to the ACOG.
