    Thank You Calguns

I just want to thank Calguns and its members for helping me through my AR build. I was going to Burro this Saturday to sight in my sights and my red dot. But I saw the weather forecast for Saturday and decided to go at last minute yesterday. Got there at 2:30p.m. and found out they were closing at 4:00p.m. I was so much in a hurry that I forgot to bring my binoculars with me, so that killed my sighting plan. I was able to get it close between the breaks. My friend and I shot 200 rounds of Federal 223 with out any problems. Shooting the AR for the 1st time was kinda scary, didnt know if I assembled it correctly or not.
I also took along my 22 year old Calico M100 (which I purchased when I turned 18 years old) which i haven't shot in 15 years. When I joined Calguns I found out that it was good to go and it was not illegal to own. Sorry I dont have any action shots because they weren't pretty to post .

    Armalite upper & bcg
    Magpul Mbus rear sight
    Magpul 10/30 Pmag
    Midwest Industries front sight
    Daniel Defense free float
    Primary Arms micro red dot
Grip Pod GPS-02 not in the picture

I'm debating if I should keep the Calico..... not as fun as the AR

    thanks Calguns

Nice M&P. FYI, your front sight is backwards.
The Model 610 was classified as the XM177[3] but adopted by the Air Force as the GAU-5/A Submachine Gun (GAU = Gun, Aircraft, Unit.) The Army purchased 2,815 Model 609 CAR-15 Commandos on June 28, 1966, which were officially designated Submachine Gun, 5.56 mm, XM177E1. - Wikipedia

I'm thinking of epoxing a rail on top of the magazine to mount a scope or a red dot. The scope mount they offer is too expensive and doesnt look like it will hold zero.

The mag is a whole lot wobblier than the scope mount. I have it on mine. Holds zero very well, I think.

Obviously, its the bottom of this pic.

Nice collection you have there. My mag sits very tight and no wobble at all. But looking at yours I might have to try that out so I don't goober up my M100. What kind of grouping are you getting with the scope, lets say 100 yards? Also do you have to take the scope mount off to take the magazine off?
                      thanks

I haven't really measured my groupings - I'll do that this weekend at Angeles, though.

The mag comes off without removing the scope mount. You simply press the side release buttons and it pops up a bit and you pull it out the back. I guess my magazine is wobbly when it shouldn't be. I'll look into grabbing a rebuild kit from their website. I'm pretty sure you can just buy the outside shell.

jello2594: question about the sight mount. Does it have a picanny rail or weaver?

Are you kidding? Rapid firing mine at the 40 yard tin can range is a riot... besides, you'd have to sell it out of state. Then let DOJ know you no longer have it on your RAW list?

What a hassle, it's cheaper to keep 'er.
