AR-10 scopes question

I've been looking at scopes to put on my AR-10 (that will hopefully be finished in a couple weeks) and wanted some advice on some mid range scopes that I will hopefully be able to use from 100 yards to (if I can find a place in the bay area) a 1000 yards.
I think I've narrowed it down to the following:

This is a better question for the optics section of this forum. Also honestly the only one you listed that isn't a cheap chinese scope is the leupold. I would call Scott at Liberty Optics and have him help you out. www.libertyoptics.com

i have one of these on my Rem700 that i shot 1000yds with. almost enough travel to be able to get the cross hair on target at that range. but thats why i love mil dot.

And sporstman guide or natchez had a nikon Monarch scope for like 550.00
of the 3 you listed. Leupold.

I'd buy the most expensive piece of glass i can afford at the time. you will notice a difference.
that being said, i shot through a burris tactical and it was pretty nice for the price...

Don't skimp on optics if you're serious about distance. It hurt but I bought the IOR 3-18x42 Snipers Hide scope and it was 50% more than the rifle! That being said I couldn't be happier with the image through that scope, it's sharper and clearer than my spotting scope and I can easily see 30 cal holes at 200 Yards, (maybe even 300 but I haven't tried that yet).

I like variable scopes, the SS 3-9x42 looks pretty good, or a used Leupold M3.

Don't skimp on optics if you're serious about distance.

+1. The biggest mistake a person can make is to cheap out on glass if they really want to shoot at distance.

I'm on a college budget but I saved my pennies for 8 months and got myself a NF 3.5-15x50. Best piece of glass I have ever touched and they can be had new ~$1300 and used ~$1000-1100. When you buy a nice scope you are paying for excellent precision and repeatability of adjustment turrets as well as outstanding optical clarity. Also, these scopes tend to come with iron clad warranties that really protect the user.

I know a very well known palma shooter who has given up on leupold scopes because his VX-IIIs would just not track reliably. The leupold name is tarnishing so be sure to review any product carefully before purchasing. I don't care if they offer lifetime warranties to any user that will replace scope not found to work as advertised. Their scopes are made in China resulting in quality control issues that Leupold considers acceptable because they are saving lots of $. If they can afford to play the exchange game then so be it. I'm sure after a bad scope, you are bound to get a good Leupy through exchange. I like something that is built to work correctly the first time......not that all leupolds are bad. Leupold is decent, depending on the model and use. I've just heard enough doubt about their quality control that I'll never use one for distance.

I have never owned one, but MANY shooters use the super sniper scope as the beginner's distance scope. I've heard many positive accounts of this scope's ability to shoot distance. They can be had at $350-400 new and easily sell for $250 used. I suggest buying one and selling it while you save up for a nightforce, USO, Premier, or S&B. That way you are only out $100-150 bucks when you sell it to upgrade.
