Sounds like you need to screw in the nut a bit more. Some people use loc-tite on the thread. Personally if I had that problem I would use a little teflon tape.

Make sure that the castle nut on the mag. release threaded rod is screwed down until it's flush with the end of the threaded portion. If it has backed-off, put a drop of blue Lock-tite on it before you reinstall it.

Thanks guys. I assume you mean the castle nut that I can see while looking in the center of the exterior of the magazine release button? That's the one I tightened, and it seems fine now.

Am I able to apply loctite from the exterior of the rifle, or do I need to completely remove the bullet button and reinstall it?

Also, while testing how secure my bullet button is, I noticed that if I pull the bullet button housing outward away from the receiver, it moves quite a bit against some spring tension. Is this normal?

Yes you will need to apply loc-tite to the threads then screw back on the nut.

Yes its normal that the BB will lift out a bit if pulled. The first gen BB's wont though.

there used to be creeping loctite, i think it was purple. havent seen it for awhile...

There is a green Loctite that is meant to seep into threads after a nut/bolt assembly is together. Don't confuse it with the green that's for holding a collar on a shaft.

Typically, the purple Loctite is for smaller fasteners; under 1/4". It has similar thread locking ability as compared to the blue.
