    OC GUNSMITH EXPERIENCE

i needed my upper built for my AR. ( i know i know go to randal)

    i went to oc gunsmith and had the following done;
    -assemble upper
-pin and weld muzzle devise (14.7" barrel)
    -install DD 12.0" M4 rail

at first i was super stoked on the work, and could not wait to finish my build.

then i noticed that the rail was crooked... no big deal took it back and he fixed it.

yesterday i took the AR out for its maiden voyage, and today i cleaned her up. while cleaning i noticed that the pin on my muzzle device had fallen out. HMM!!!!

im taking it back tomorrow to get another pin WELDED in.. has anyone else had experiences there? i cant say im too satisfied =[

So, wait... Your muzzle is now removable?

If so, I would thread lightly on how you proceed (even edit your original post).

Care to explain? Because unless you have a pistol lower...

I have never even heard of OC Gunsmith and I live in OC.

If you're referring to the place next to the taco shop...

I took a brand new lmt upper and daniel defense lite rail and had them "install" it.... they gave it all back to me half done... barrel nut sort of on... scratch marks on the upper receiver and everything else in pieces...

The smith couldn't figure out how to put it on...

He gave it back to me in pieces and said sorry.

          ....

I got the right tools and just did it myself... then went to Randall to get the hider pinned. Randall worked it like a complete pro. Shoulda took it to Randall in the first place.... he just lives so damn far away. :P

          Worth the drive.

He pinned my upper before, no problems.

You guys have to remember his expertise are not as extensive in AR-15s, as say Randa'ls. Don't knock the OC Gunsmith's skills just off of one AR job, take a 1911 to him and see what happens. I think you all will be pleasantly surprised.

No offence to him, but installing a rail isn't too difficult, I just didn't have the proper tools, and for the pin to fall out, the weld had to lack penetration.

Randal, you will see me for any future AR pattern gunsmithing.

Live and learn. I'm taking the upper back today, and I'm hoping he can properly PERMINATLY attack my muzzle device. If not I'm respectfully asking for a refund of my money.

His expertise?? Too bad op didn't bring a 1911 to start

Post the location and perhaps help others avoid the same crap.

                  Thanks

Yeah, I believe I know which gunsmith you're talking about. I think they also work out of the On Target range at least one Saturday a month.

I had him put an A2 flash hider on an M4gery upper for me several years ago. The work was so poorly done that I've avoided having them touch anything I own.

I believe ON TARGET has two different gunsmith's that they deal with. OC Gunsmith, and another not affiliated with OC Gunsmith.

I swore i'd never go back after I had to take it back to get the rail straightened. They tried to deny fault, and it took him 2 days to do the job. But I have no option. I paid big green US currency for his time.

So everyone is just going to avoid him now because he isn't the best AR smith? That seems rather near-sighted.
