    Romanian AK47

I got a line on one
Twenty years old... never been fired
how are they compared to other AK's?
I'm looking for a 47 to go with my Saiga 74

    what do you think?
I can get it for three hundred
or do I just get the Saiga in 7.62 and convert again?

    thanks!

20 years old? As in it was imported in 1990? Not possible. Is it perhaps a kit build with a parts kit made in the 90's? We need mo info. Model designation? BTW, $300 is an outstanding price anyway.

If it's 20 years old, chances are it's make/model banned.

The action is going to be the same. Other than that, it's about looks and features. I like my featureless Saiga because, I can run any mag I want through it. I like my BB equiped AKs because they are more historically accurate. Of course, I don't expect to win any marksmanship awards with any of them. After all, they are just AKs (even the Saiga).

It kind of depends on who built the Romy but I wouldnt say one is better than the other. If your Saiga is converted, then they're basically the same. Some notable differences would be the bolt hold open on the Saiga, and a bayo lug and cleaning rod on the Romy.

The bolt hold open spring leg probably slipped off..

I don't know.. It would never engage the bolt
I got rid of it when I converted it

Did you throw it away? You can put it back on if you had the spring and bolt hold open. You just gotta put it all in a certain order. And use some tricks to get the spring on the leg of the bolt hold open.

Its nice to have a bolt hold open but its not really necessary on an AK.

But since you dont have the BHO on your Saiga, then its basically the same as the Romy, except for the bayo lug and cleaning rod.
