The upper is crap, and if you're in CA, it's likely in an illegal configuration without a bullet button (since it has some "evil" features).

How come Model 1 uppers are crap? Anyone care to say why other from someone elses heresay. I have a Model 1 upper with tons of round through it. To the OP its not a great deal keep searching calguns and you will find that same configurated AR for no more than $900. There is nothing wrong with Model 1 uppers.

I've seen 4 different people order Model 1 uppers and every single one of them had problems. Kind of turned me off on them. Who gets it wrong 4 out of 4 times?

I think they are better now than they use to be, but I still wouldn't gamble on one.
