I wonder if I should hold out for any revised versions with all the modifications being made to it by many evaluators?

What do you think about these... i feel like its a wierd way to hold, inferior to a good forward vertical grip.... anyone own one who can defend it as being better than a regular vertical grip? I can't see how it prevents muzzle rise while rapid firing, which to me is a big part of the attraction of a regular vertical grip.

Having your thumb higher on the forearm than the barrel naturally puts downward pressure, combating muzzle flip. This is more effective than wrapping your hand around a traditional VFG and pulling down against muzzle flip.

It depends. If you actually hold your VFG in a pistol grip this probably isn't for you. For me, I started out with a fullsize VFG, then moved to a stubby VFG, and while the stubby is close to perfect it's still not quite right. Why? Because I hold my rifle exactly like magpul's proof case for this product - basically in the 'crotch' between the rail and the VFG with my thumb up on the rail.

Honestly I could shoot the rest of my life just fine with my stubby VFG but when this comes out in FDE I will give it a shot.

If you hold full retard...then keep your VFG.
If you use a competition hold, (that is what truly helps with muzzle climb and stability) then you have a bunch of wasted VFG anyway...you're not even using half of it. If you have a VFG and utilize the competition grip, swap to a AFG. Its cheaper than a good VFG and gives you better position for your hold.

Ordered one. If you have a C&R discount, its only $28.99 at Midway too but it comes out even after shipping and whatnot.

Always glad to help someone else spend their money...because I sure-as-heck have no problem spending mine!

Seriously...at what point do you need an intervention? When you buy another safe because you run out of room in the existing safes...or when you start thinking about parking the cars outside to make room for more safes? Or when you "forget" about a C&R rifle you purchased until you see it listed in your bound book?
