    Need longer muzzle break.

I need to find an AK muzzle break that is at least 2-3/4" long so that I can install my folding stock and it will be legal under the 30" rule. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find them and since I live in Kali it can't be a flash hider type. Oh and I don't want any of those fake looking six inch ones. I see that Tapco has a couple but they don't give the lengths.

BTW, what is the difference between a flash hider and a muzzle break???? I thought the flash hiders had slits cut into them axially, while a muzzle break has slots cut around the circumference, is that right?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

You can have it on a semi-auto centerfire rifle with a fixed 10 round or less magazine.

Since, you are adding a folding stock on your AK, I am assuming the AK has a fixed 10 round or less magazine. So, it would be legal to add a flash suppressor/hider.

I think you're confusing a few of the AW regulations. If you want a folding stock, you must use a mag lock + 10 round magazine, and since it's no longer a det. mag. rifle, you can also have the flash suppressor. Also, can you tell us if you have a muzzle threaded 14x1 left hand, or 24mm right hand?

Yes, raddlock will be installed so it will have a fixed mag. The rifle is not built yet. I am just aquiring the parts right now.

OK, for a Romy kit using a Romy factory side folder that uses the existing rear trunnion tang, you need a muzzle device with a min. of 4.25 inches long screwed onto the barrel to make the min. of 30 inches with the stock folded, not 2.75 inches.

I plan on using the ATI Strikeforce kit with this particular build. The overall length with the buttstock folded is 27-1/4" (from the back end of the folded buttstock to the front end of the front sight), therefore I would need a muzzle break with a minimum of 2-3/4" but slightly over would be cool just to be above the 30" limit.

Gotcha. An AMD 65 muzzle brake is long enough, but you'll get some flash.
