I have a POF lower, bought it primarily for the integral trigger guard and ambi bolt release. It uses DPMS magazines, they are inexpensive and easily available. Down side is you have to use a sleeve on the hinge pin to mate with a DPMS upper.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

I don't think there is one that is better or worse, I think it comes down to personal preference... I think the DPMS mags are cheaper... I know DPMS has forward assist... there were a few other differences that I can't remember... I know they were posted here before though, cause I read about it here... do a search for AR10, I think that's what I did.
I picked the Noveske lower which is armalite compatible... and had the upper built by GA precision (but they make uppers for both)kevin.Comment

Also don't forget that CMMG makes a .308 lower that takes G3 mags....its DPMS compatible on the upper with some modification needed.MY AR Profile #1Comment

I would say... just look around and see what you like. I don't think there is one better than the other.... I wanted a Noveske lower so I went with them... some of the precision builders will make an upper for either... mag cost is important to some, but for me... since mine had to be limited to 10 rounds, I didn't care about mag cost, since I only need a couple.
It's not like I go to the desert and rapid fire anymore either with 308 prices and all. That is the other reason I went with GA presicion, I wanted something that was really accurate...
So, look at what you are going to use it for... hunting? long range target? You see, I originally wanted my AR for hog hunting, then I saw some pics of the terrain when you go hunting and realized that my 12lb. gun was too heavy for that... now I use it at Angeles range to shoot steel out to 600 yards and want to get into handloading to find a nice bullet for it.kevin.Comment

I run an Armalite compatible lower as well.
I like the slant angle of the Armalite upper receiver, kinda has a meaner look to it in my opinion. The DPMS style looks like an enlarged AR-15 upper.
Btw...the newest generation of Armalite upper receivers have forward assist as well. I have an older receiver that doesn't have f/a, and I prefer the way it looks without one.
I think you can get an Aero Precision lower for a good price still. They're pretty plane looking, the markings are very discrete. So it's pretty much a blank canvas for a cool camo job.
As far as mags....Armalite compatible mags are definitely more expensive and more difficult to come by then DPMS. But like it's already been said, how many do you need? I got a pair of Armalite 10rd mags at a gun show during the peak of the Obama craze, for less than $25/ea. (Also I've seen DPMS style mags converted to work in Armalite platforms with minimal effort. Though I haven't done it myself.)Originally posted by Maddog5150The best CQB weapon of all time = A big ****ing rockComment
