Some people carry the flow chart...personally, I'm not sure it will do you much good. It is not a LEO's job to decide innocence or guilt, only to seize suspected contraband and suspected criminals . If he thinks you may have an illegal weapon, it probably doesn't matter how eloquently you explain the law nor how many internet printouts you have. He's going to confiscate the weapon and let the crime lab sort it out.

Just my $.02--it might not hurt to carry documentation, but I don't think it's going to keep your weapon from being confiscated nor you from being arrested. It will be sorted out by the DA (hopefully) or in court (bummer). To my knowledge, there has not been a successful prosecution in CA of an OLL legally configured as per the flow chart. Also, more and more LEO's are gradually getting up to speed on the legality of OLL's, which should reduce confiscations and arrests over time. Donate what you can to CGF if you'd like to keep it that way.

Don't forget to also carry the SacPD memo.

I keep a copy of my Military AW permit in my range bag. Otherwise, no other documents. That SacPD memo sounds like a good thing to have for potential OLL issues though.

Carrying the copies/printout is great, but it will serve you better to memorize it and know the laws in your area.

Always carry a copy of the flow chart with you everytime your OLLs leave your house.

And carry a COPY of your DROS and/or a COPY of your 4473 page 3 is best and also page 1.

Also a COPY of any reciepts that shows your OLL was purchased in CA.

Keep all this paperwork in a folder inside your LOCKED gun case.

Also in a worst case senario keep ALL original copies of the above paperwork at a family member or friends house NOT where your OLLs are stored.
EDIT: If a cop knows you have a GUN or he can see a GUN or ammo or ANYTHING with the word "GUN" or a even a brand name associated with a GUN. He may ask you if you have a gun and if you do he has the right to check to see if that GUN is LOADED!!!

                    TO AVOID THIS:

While traveling keep ALL gun related items out of plain in your vehicle. Locked in your trunk is best. This means if you can walk up to your car and see gun RELATED stuff through your windows it is in PLAIN VIEW.

If the cop starts asking about GUNS/weapons in you car simply reply with, "Sir, there is nothing illegal in my car." and NEVER use the G-word.

Remember do NOT lie about having a gun in your car but never admit to having one or it gives the officer PC for a loaded check and the opportunity to play "me thinks me knows the gun laws about EVIL looking guns."

Do not even speak to a cop about ANYTHING other than the minor traffic violation that led to your stop.

Cops are not there to engage you in chit-chat, they give you no gold star for eloquent conversations only shiny silver braclets.

                    REMEMBER THAT.

I make LEO's read it in it's entirety before I let them beat me and handcuff me

You be sure to let us know how that works out for ya.....

I keep copies of purchase receipt and relevant docs suggested above. Who knows, they might actually read it.....

+1 on not giving any extra info to LEO. Just the facts, Maam.
