torch the receiver and then ask the police to run a ballistics check on teh barrel, if it comes back clean, you get a free parts kit.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with what you did.

Other people here would have just done things differently.

Talking to cops is never the easiest thing to do.

And for all those "used in a violent crime" people.....come on, just come on.

Let me use my vast intellect...hmm maybe a new barrel?

Being a pessimist has it's advantages.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

By now young man, you should have figured out when to get things off your chest and when to keep it to yourself. This advice is only usable upon finding your next hidden gun...

So vast intellect, your now into it for a new barrel and a lower receiver to put an old stock and parts kit into. I guess it's worth the time and expense to save $100 worth of old parts.

If "con" is the opposite of "pro" then is congress the opposite of progress?

Since the front trunion has the receiver number on it on a norinco, you can't use that either (could be a stolen REG AW)

The bolt carrier will have a serial number on it too IIRC, not sure about what other parts will be numbered on the norinco's.

You can still get popped for receiving stolen goods even if you get rid of the 'registered' part.

look, if you want a good AK, you can buy one for $500-1000 right now.

personally I'd pay $500-1000 NOT to have to spend $40,000 in legal fees so that I don't have to spend the next couple of years with a dick in my ***.....

You may not be willing to pay quite as much to not have a dick in your *** for the next couple of years.... heck you might even be into it, I'm not here to judge.

But 500-1000 is a very very small price to pay to avoid having to pay $40,000 in legal fees for the privilege of NOT having a dick in my ***.

That rifle was a HUGE liability with only minimal benefit at best.

A banned by name AK type assault weapon (in assault weapon configuration) with an unknown history found in a location which can be traced back to you (if anyone ever came looking for it)
