It does seem to have somewhat limited practicality. You aren't going to kill a tank with it, but it's overkill for most lesser anti-materiel operations where a .50 would do just fine. Not to mention, it's stretching the limits of the term "man-portable" way past ridiculousness. That's probably why you don't see more 20mm rifles being fielded, even though they exist. A solution looking for a problem, perhaps?
like all those vehicles specifically rated to defeat .50 bmg

          Simple solution....

Build it with a Monte Carlo stock and a 5 round fixed mag.
Oh ya... and use wood, not black plastic

Tell them it's for sport hunting of bears and very large deer.

But I wanna see one of them hit a 'Yote

They used one in the movie Dist 9. I was wondering what the hell it was when I saw it.

Denel's done a great job with the NTW-20 - it's by far the best performing rifle of it's class. It's still not something I'd want to hump or jump, but it could be useful in fixed roles. They recently expanded it to support firing the larger 20mm Hispano cartridge as well (20mm x 110 vs 20mm x 82).

I would guess that it's somewhat difficult and expensive to get reloading components for such a monster.

I can barely afford "cheap and plentiful" .50BMG components to make shooting it economically feasible.

Reloading 14.5mm and 20mm isn't trivial, but the parts and components are out there if you ask around. In fact, CH4D makes dies and presses to handle both 14.5 x 114mm and 20mm Vulcan - they just cost a lot more and there's going to be wait times involved.

Don't think those are 14.5s. They look more like 12.7x108 rounds (Russian .50 BMG equivalent). The gun barrel looks like a DShK in 12.7x108.

There is an attached comparison photo at the bottom.
                      L to R: 7.62x39, 7.62x54r, .50 BMG, 14.5

Looks like fun but you are gonna need a forward observer to spot your rounds so you can correct your fire. BTW I am not available.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Or a big freaking death ray

Actually, it's a Schmitt camera, but it was close enough for it's purpose.
