Over the years I'v assembled a couple of Ar-15s from parts. (Ah the good old days) Lately I've been considering building a .308 AR. There are a few obviously different parts, upper, lower barrel etc. But would I be using regular AR-15 parts for the lower? Is there a tutorial site somewhere about .308 AR construction?

Bruce,
Riflegear.com has some info. Most of the lower parts are the same, some different due to size. .308 lowers come in 4 different magazine configurations. Armalite, DPMS/Stoner, FAL, & G3. After you decide what mags you want to use, find a manufacturer & see what upper's fit. There is a difference in upper/lower fit. Check out manufactures like DPMS, Armalite, Noveske, Rock River Arms, P.O.F."We are not here to comfort the disturbed, we're here to disturb the comfortable." - Emilio Castillo

I built my AR-10 using a ar-15 LPK and bought an AR-10 Bolt catch, mag catch, front and rear takedown pins. That was the only way I could finish my rifle at the time, AR-10 LPK's were non-existant do to the obama scare. Not sure if there is a difference with a DPMS build though.Comment
