    short/discrete range bags?

I am looking to find a more discrete rifle case. I don't want to come out of the house with an unusually long case for my rifle. What bags do you guys recommend for my disassembled 16" barrel AR15?

It just needs to be short, I don't care if it's big and bulky.

IMO, one of the FEW things gunshows are good for anymore are finding range bags. I've picked up a few soft cases and bags and all sorts of range-nonsense cheap lately.

If you're willing to drop $$$ for a case.

I use a Blackhawk! Homeland Security Discreet rifle case, 26" length. It is exactly the right size for a disassembled 16" AR, with the upper strapped in the top row of velcro loops and the lower strapped below it.

If you add on another velcro-backed 3-mag-pouch, this shorty bag can hold six AR mags and still has room in the front pocket for sling, tools, and possibly eye pro/ear pro, though it does get bulky.

Best of all, the case looks just like a MIDI keyboard case and draws no attention.

I'll be getting one of these. Cheap but it's ok. Just a range bag that I want to be discrete with. For $24, hell yeah!

You have to take your stock assembly off everytime you transport your AR?

How about this? http://www.castlerocktactical.com/crt_dc16.htm or http://www.cavalryarms.com/DRB.html or http://www.originalsneakybags.com/Sm...Rifle_Bag.html
I'm planning on buying either a cheap skateboard bag or a duffle bag.

I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

The photo's really funny, huh? Note that the buffer tube has been removed completely--so much for staking the castle nut!

that is only for example.... remember that UTG makes most of their items for airsoft use and there is no "Buffer tubes" to remove on airsoft guns cause usually the batteries are stored in the stock. and to be safe, better to take apart the upper/lower than just the stock, since it would now be shorter than the 26" OAL requirement

Thats a freaking Airsoft rifle guys...LOL.
Look at it. Its an Airsoft company that makes it! (the bag)

He would just separate the upper and lower.

Are there foam inserts for the guitar bags or is it do it yourself?

                              Guitar case.

You can get a soft-sided guitar case at a music store for $20-30.

You don't even have to break the rifle down (in fact it's better if you don't).

                              Discreet.

I was at SGC on Saturday and they were selling ones made specifically FOR rifles, which seems a little overboard to me but to each his own.
