When i was using an OEM Chargin handle I didnt bother using any lube.

BUT, when I installed a Badger Ordnance Extended Latch and started racking the CH with one hand. I started noticing rub marks on the right side of the CH.

Been lubing my CH since. However after that, i started racking the CH with my Palm instead of my finger to give a more equal pressure on teh CH.

      None needed, none required.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

Hmm how often do you rack your AR with the CH? Well for starters if I am only a few rounds into a shooting session and the 1 minute left is called for firing session I tend to take a shot or two more then proceed to drop the mag and slide the bolt back via the CH. Even when I was only running 10 round mags I would do the same thing. I started running featureless a few months ago and it is so nice to be able to use my pre-ban mags.

Also like akjunkie ha stated I went to a badger extended latch and started to notice it drag on the right side as well.

I guess it is up to indivisual preferences, I like the knowing that the main parts that rub on one another are lubed up.

Rub marks on an ar15/m16 are the norm. Use it and don't lose any sleep over it.

Pretty much dry.. but when I clean the rifle I do wipe some remington oil or similar lube on it but I wipe it off right away... I use it more as a cleaner I guess... Dry seems to work best and not collect dust and other debris.

I use a special mixture of whale semen and butterfly tears.

Just kidding, don't you know how hard it is to make a butterfly cry?
