    AR gas tube leak

Tube 'leaks' powder residue around the gas block and out the front of the upper. Cause? Worn out tube or just poor fitment?
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

The gas block/tube doesn't really wear if it's installed properly. I suspect that either the gas block is crap or the barrel was turned too small or the block has come loose.

Where, exactly, are the leaks you're seeing?

Does your rifle cycle properly or does it short stroke?

        SMALL leaks will self-seal.

If it seems excessive or you're having cycling issues, send it back.

'Leaks' are blowing out around the tube where it passes through the bbl nut and where it exits the gas block. No leaks around gas block/bbl. This is a SS bull bbl w/ Hogue full float handguard. Gass block is set with three(3) setscrews. They do need to be counter sunk though.

If the leak looks like this, it's normal.

Look at how your rifle operates. You will always get carbon build-up around there as the gas tube unseals from the carrier key. It's normal.

However, you should check the key/tube seal to be sure it's acting normal.

In the end, function is your best diagnosis. Does you rifle short stroke?

No function problems. Throws casings about 12 feet to the four o'clock position.

Put a heavier buffer in it.
                        6-8ft is better than 12ft.
