    lower for RRA Varmint upper

Anyone build one of these? I want a tight milspec fit; I really like STAG; do those fit the RRA Uppers tight? Thanks

I have an RRA predator pursuit 20" upper on a Stag-15 lower. The fit is good. There is just a very slight movement near the takedown pin, but not enough to bother me. I can shoot sub MOA from the bench using Black Hills 77 grain BTHP ammo. The color match looks good too, especially after a few wipes with CLP. Good luck on your choice.

A true 'milspec' rifle - the M16 or M4 as issued - will not have a really tight fit.
There will be some minor movement.

This movement is no biggie and really doesn't affect accuracy as the lower doesn't do anything, the work is all done in the upper.

There have been reports of RRA uppers having issues with standard lowers due to poss. out-of-spec RRA uppers. They may have changed the spec a bit to cause a fit that's "over tight" and make it difficult to drift rear takedown pin out.
This can be very difficult to use in a fixed-mag 'break open' rifle.

My Stags have been tight as a ....
If your lower is mil spec, then it should be good. Most of the big names on this board seem to be good.
And just so you know, any AR based platform will loosen up with time, its a "feature" of the design.

Just as a follow up to Bill's post that the build that I just made does not have any problems with the rear takedown pin using the RRA upper and Stag Lower purchased in Dec 2006. I have the extended takedown pin installed to make it easier to use the fixed Prince50 maglock and this combination works just fine as a top loader. If these had a problem in the past it would seem that it has been corrected for now.
