    New Mega Monolithic Upper?

Sorry if this is a dupe.

I saw this posted on another board and was wondering if anyone here had additional info?

(This is an unfinished unit that has not been anodized yet).

A new Mega Monolithic Upper (to be announced at SHOT).

Cool - not sure why they didn't add a couple QD holes in the rail though...

NICE! But LMT still has my heart for monolithic uppers...especially with the 308 coming soon, hopefully!

I wonder if monolithic uppers are the new standard for the AR design.

certainly "are" not, but very likely to become the standard.

                It just makes sense.

Nice, but not wild about the big MEGA logo slapped on the side.

Nifty idea, but a bit pricey. I see complete Colt monolithic uppers on Gunbroker for a little over a grand. Ranier has just the receiver for a bit over $600.

The only thing I don't like about monolithic uppers is the ability to use a standard barrel and barrel nut.

LMT's use a proprietary barrel extension and no barrel nut, but they're quick-change'ish, which is cool.

Colt uses a proprietary barrel nut (which could become a standard).

I believe the VLTOR uses a proprietary barrel nut as well.

                              I like standards, damnit! heh.
