    AK slant break/hider

Alright, so I'm here in St. Louis, MO for college. After my five-hour organic chemistry lab class I decided to treat myself to a little excursion to the local gun shop. They happened to have a Romanian AK built on a Century receiver for $360. I am absolutely sure that it is the same exact rifle/kit as the Romanian onAimSurplus.com. It even comes with the same goodies. Heres the link...

Now here's my question.... Isn't that a slant break and not just a hider? It says it is on the website, but the guy at the local shop said that it wasn't a break, only a hider. I know the line is thin, but what would you say?

Also, I have the option to buy the model that lacks a bayonet lug for 30 bucks cheaper. Is there any reason I would want to go with that model?

I'm about to take the plunge, but I really want to be sure about this since I have limited funds and this will be my last purchase for quite some time.

And a final note on Missouri gun shops.... THEY ARE AWESOME. You should see the place I was at. They have all their rifles up on a wall, behind glass, with beautiful lights shining above them. They had AKMs, underfolders, m4geries, bushmasters, etc. I had a hard time keeping my cool and limiting my smile to a large grin.... I'm tempted to take some pictures when I go to get my rifle, just so I can show my friends in Sacramento what I get to enjoy here.

    Thanks.

It's a brake not a hider. It's just not a very good brake.

If you want a good brake get the ak-74 style one. I have both, and I can tell you the ak-74 style is much better. Less muzzle lift and recoil is substantially reduced.

California law says NOTHING about bayonet lugs so get the one with it as you can always grind it off if things change or you move where you can't have it.

As for the muzzle device it is a brake. It does nothing to alter the flash of the weapon but does actually a very decent job of controlling muzzle rise for right handed shooters when used in full auto. It's job was not to reduce felt recoil, so of course it won't do that (at least not a major way), but it does do a pretty good job of what it was designed for.
