Do you remove them from your rifle prior to storage/transport? Is it OK to leave them mounted all the time?

YES leave them on! Unless you like to rezero your sites all the time. They can come off but unless you have a quality quick release mount like a Larue I would not touch them. I too advocate leaving everything on the rifle if you can. But since getting my 03 FFL my collection have overgrown my safe so I am forced to stuff things into it, which means the aimpoint comes off. Have not lost zero yet and I remove the Aimpoint everytime the rifle goes into storage. The joy of Larue.Comment

Just do like me, take your eotech off for competing in a CMP match, only to find when you've decided to put it back on your rifle you've lost it
Actually, when my eotech wasn't lost, I regularly took it off my FAL and put it back on and never had to re-zero the sights. I leave my EOTech on all the time. These are supposed to be for the military right? The EOTech has that nice metal cage around it - I just let it bang around - never lost zero. Thought about getting one of those neoprene covers for it but haven't bothered. My only problem is I get CLP splatter on it when I'm cleaning (local store only had the aerosol can of CLP).

I take my off just incase I run into a uninformed LEO who confiscates my rifles for evil looking muzzle breaks or whatever. I figure I don't want to be be fighting to get my guns and optics back.Comment
