Someone recomend a shop in the Easy Bay for AR gas block swap?

Okay, I stopped by and called a few gunsmiths, and no one will swap the gas block on my upper because they don't have an AW permit. Once again I'm convinced nobody knows the law. One gunsmith even told me he was about to send his Bushmaster upper back to Bushmaster to do the same swap I wanted.

Anyway, can someone recommend a shop in the East or South Bay that knows what they're doing? Or, if someone can post up a how-to, I could try to attempt it myself.

IIRC, its only two drift pins and one or two screws holding the sucker in place. You'll have to take off the flash hider/brake first though.

What kinda doofuses are these? Give me their names privately (PM) and I will chat with them (politely) to let them know what they can/can't do.

If it's not the whole gun, just an upper, they are free to work on it, give it to a 3-year old, strap it to their dog, or dance with it.

A regular gunsmith can work on an OLL-based rifle, or a registered Cat 3 AW with sufficient evil features removed.

A gunsmith can work on an AW if the work is done on it while continually in your presence and it's not left overnight, you don't leave for lunch, etc.

Do you live anywhere near fremont. Its really easy to do. First you remove you flash hider. Knock out the two drift pins. Remove your front site or gas base. Then tap out the roll pin that holds your gas tube on. Reverse these steps to put the new one back on. You just have to make sure your gas holes in the barrel and the block line up. If you need help and you are near me let me know.

You heard 1919A4? It's about it. But there's something tricky. I heard the tapper pins on FSB are directional. You need to punch/drill them out in correct direction.

If you don't wanna keep the FSB, just cut it. That will be easier.

Guess you are going to install the YHM gas block/front sight. If you need to use Panther Receiver Claw and/or barrel vise, I would be happy to lend them to you.

Ya, you are correct. They are directional.
