    Brown/Silver bear ammo, any good?

I am looking to stock up on some ammo (before i even purchase my rifle) since i live in California. I am going to be purchasing a Remington 700 varmint in 308, and a friend of mine has a savage 10fple in 308. We are wondering how brown bear and silver bear ammo does with these rifles? Also, where can we purchase affordable noncorrosive ammo for these rifles?

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

That ammo is junk. It will go boom, but it is junk. Why do you think it is so cheap?

Semi true... junk is to strong a word. 308 isn't exactly a cheap round to buy no matter what. Silver/Brown bear is plenty good for plinking, practice, sighting, even groupings to some extent. It isn't match grade ammo, but to call it junk and pay twice as much is just stupid.

its good for plinking and wont hurt your pocket.if youre going for precision shooting you`ll need match ammo and thats not going to be cheap.

I have some. Good for target shooting. if you plan on doing some accuracy stuff then you need better ammo but for somethign that goes bang its fine.
I can keep the rounds in a 4 inch circle at 100 yards through a poly m14. I tend to drift left lately. Dont know why but Im doing it with all my guns

Sounds good, so i expect it to be semi-accurate up to 100yards. I guess that's good to start off with since this will be my first high caliber rifle.

              Thanks for the information guys.

man idk some of these people must be high grade purists... I'm no "groupings" expert. I shoot cheap ammo out of an AK. But with wolf or silver/brown bear with a saiga I can hit a 6 inch diameter target at 200-250 yards without much hassle. Seems accurate enough for me. Again I wouldn't take it to a match, but I'm not takin my Ak to any matches either. But your running a higher caliber with a gun built on a more precision basis, so I would stick to using it for plinking and such. But you might be surprised at how it operates even out to 200 yards or so. (btw my little bit about shooting 250 is with iron sights, although I'm no "sniper" anyways lol)

Works fine on my AKs. Tho I'm sure as heck not shooting those guns for groups. They wouldn't be my choice of ammo for the guns you are shooting, but there no reason for them not to work. What do you intend to do with those guns and what are your expectations?

sounds good to me, what i do since I have an AK the chews brass anyways is buy the cheap stuff but keep a hundred or two rounds on hand of higher end stuff. Including a few boxes of nasty HD (home defense) stuff. Again there is nothing wrong with buying lets say 500 rounds of silver bear and maybe 500 rounds of something nicer with lead core and brass jacket. Gives yourself options and an ability to go to the range without blowing 150 bucks in one sitting...

They'd be perfect for that purpose IMO.
