Muzzle attachment for ak47 with turned down threads?

I have an ak47 with turned down threads and while I haven't measured it, it looks like it's been turned down to much to rethread it.

Is there anything I can attach to end of my barrel? I'd even be happy with welding on a muzzle nut if anyone had any ideas on how to do it so that it is fully secured.

This is purely an aesthetic issue for me at this point, I just don't like how the gun looks with a pencil thin tip.

Post a picture but if its smooth you could get one of the pin on brakes kvar has. Is there any threads or is it smooth?

If in fact you have a rifle that once had threads, but then had them "turned down" (threads cut down), the diameter will now be too small to re-thread 14x1. You have three options. 1. re-thread it with an AR thread and buy one of the AK muzzle devices threaded the same way. 2. Weld one on, but the device will have to ba a custom made size. 3. Have a gunsmith "sleeve" the muzzle to get it back to the correct diameter and then cut the threads.

Definitely a lot of work to have it threaded true. You would have to pull the barrel and take it to a gunsmith. Look into a pin on or set screw muzzle brake.

Might be able to put the new style front sight on it with the threads part of it.

looks like an egyptian maadi. most with turned down maddis will thread the barrel 1/2 x 28 (AR thread) and use a slant comp. I hear you can rent kits(1/2x28 RH thread die,TAT,Tool) but you will need a vice. I'm not quite sure what the minimum od for threading that size is. you will need to find that out

You will also need to get a front sight plunger pin and spring and install in the front sight block if you go that route. you will need to drive a pin out, put the spring and plunger in then put the pin back in.

Thats the hard way. The cheap way would be to buy the said aftermarket sight block with the built in threaded barrel sleeve. But that wont match the paint or look of the maddi and if aesthetics is what u are after u may want to refinish the gun.

For the most cost and professional results take it to a smith.

I've asked that on theAKforums and it's much more difficult then I first thought. The muzzle will have to be turned down even more to have a correct diameter sleeve attached. If you still want to do that, have a professional do it. The pre-threaded sleeves can be custom made.
