i just ordered a a3 upper and i was planning on putting a bushnell 1x32 red dot sight on it. the upper i ordered has the standard front sight system on it and i was wondering if the front sight will obscure my view any? if so i was planning on getting a different gas block because i can still add it to my order.

You're going to see the standard FSP through your optics, yes. Some people can't stand that and choose to go with a folding front sight or "bare" low-profile gas block. Personally, it never bothered me and the upshot is that my (non-folding) irons are co-witnessed. I can instantly switch to iron sights simply by adjusting my cheek weld.
Any folding sight is going to have some amount of play in it, which has the potential to increase with use. Call me a traditionalist, but I avoid them.
My advice is try the optics with your standard FSP and see if it bothers you. If so, switch it out. If not, then it doesn't hurt anything to leave it on there.Last edited by reidnez; 10-29-2009, 8:58 PM.Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it. -Andre Gide
